National Food Security Mission (NFSM)

Introduction

The National Food Security Mission (NFSM) was launched in 2007-08 by the Government of India to increase the production of rice, wheat, pulses, coarse cereals, and nutri-cereals through area expansion and productivity enhancement.

  • To reduce the yield gap in identified districts.
  • To increase farmers’ income through better crop management.

Eligible Beneficiaries:

Exclusions:

  • Farmers not cultivating NFSM target crops.
  • Large-scale commercial farming projects.

Application Process

  1. Farmers can apply through their respective state agriculture departments or online portals.
  2. Applications are reviewed by district-level authorities before approval.
  3. Financial aid is directly transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts.
