Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)

Introduction

The Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) was launched in 2015 by the Government of India to promote organic farming and the adoption of eco-friendly agricultural practices. It falls under the broader National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA).

Objectives

  • To encourage farmers to adopt organic farming methods.
  • To promote eco-friendly and sustainable agriculture.
  • To reduce dependency on chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
  • To improve soil health and fertility through organic practices.

Benefits

  • Financial Assistance: Farmers receive up to ₹50,000 per hectare over three years for organic farming.

Eligibility

Eligible Beneficiaries:

  • Individual farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and self-help groups (SHGs). Applicable for farmers forming organic clusters (minimum of 20 hectares per cluster).
